Betting all the chips you have
Ante
A bet made before any cards have been dealt
Babies
Cards of low value
Bluffing
Tricking other players into thinking that you have a better hand than you do
Blinds
Forced bets put in by one or sometimes more players before any cards are dealt
Buy in
An amount of money that is required to join a game of poker
Call
A statement that that a player will match the previous bet
cashing out
Taking your money and leaving the poker game
Collusion
Sharing of imformation between one or more players to cheat
Dead Cards
Cards that have ceased to be playable
Dominated
Starting hands that are so strong they will ususally beat other hands
Fixed Limit
When you have agreed the maximum limits of bets
Flop
The deal whre the first three community cards are shown in Omaha and hold'em
Fold
Withdrawal from the game
Full House
Three cards of the same value with a pair
Free Rolling
Where two players share the same hand but one of them has the opportunity to strengthen their hand
High-Low split
Where the highest and lowest hands split the pot
Hold'em
A game with seven cards where every player gets two cards dealt face up and five cards are face up for eveybodie's use
Low Poker
Poker where the lowest hand wins
Monster
A very high ranking hand
No-limit
Where any size of bet or raise is allowed
odds
A ratio that expresses your chance of wining against your chances of losing
Omaha
Where each player gets dealt 4 cards, and combines 2 cards from that hand to make the best five card hand from three of the five communal cards in the centre of the table.
Paint
Any court card such as king, queen or jack
Poker Face
Controlling your facial expressions so that you do not give any information away about your hand
Positions
The seat position in relation to the dealer
Pot-limit
Where the largest bet is equivalent to the pot total
Rolled-up
Where the first three cards are three of a kind
Round of play
The sequence where every player deals a poker hand
Satellites
Small tournaments where the winners wins the right to join bigger tournaments at low cost
Scoop
Winning the whole pot
Shuffling
The mixing of cards prior to them being dealt
Split pots
A pot is split when two or more players have the hand sof equal value
Spead limit
A structure in which a player may bet an amount of money between set limits
Stud
Stud refers to all forms of poker where one or more of the cards are dealt down and the rest of the cards are dealt face up
Tilt
Playing in a wild or crazy fashion
