Online poker rooms loyalty schemes

The customer loyalty scheme as espoused by the legions of large supermarkets is now coming to your online poker room of choice. It’s all very well having a sainsbury’s nectar card or a similar card for Tesco’s Boots and a host of other stores, but what is the point of such schemes being made available to online poker player?

Well this loyalty revolution has now come online. The top online poker rooms don’t want you running from site to site, trying to pick up large launch bonus’s, and ruining their take, so now they are offering “free things”

But are they really free? Well the old adage goes that nothing in life is ever really free, and the same applies to online poker rooms.

One of the latest sites to offer a full loyalty programme is the re-launched virgin poker site, where points can be traded in for a host of different rewards over the virgin empire, including airmiles on Virgin Atlantic flights. Now I’ve flown on Virgin for years, and I know that the amount of money you have to spend in order to qualify for some free airmiles is massive, and the same equation can be used online. It’s your money remember, so if you are gaining points that’s probably because you’re making them vast profits.

How do loyalty schemes work for online poker rooms.

Most are remarkably similar. Typically you may get one point for every dollar in the rake or winning hand, sometimes you may even get extra points for every pound dollar spent entering tournaments, but are they worth it. Well in my opinion yes. If you play enough poker to warrant gaining points then you may as well use them,. It does by all accounts mean that you are more likely to play in the poker room that offers you the most points and benefit of being a loyal customer, and well, that is after all the purpose of the scheme in the first place.
